Greene Lady
Her words wind their way into my heart,
Swelling with a tingle,
My mind begins to swirl,
Images force through to find a start,
The melodies swim like waves through my mind,
The Greene Lady sings,
Weaving tales of lore,
Will she once again wrap me in a magic bind?
Images assemble and flow through my arm,
Creation reveals itself,
In line, color and form,
As I breathe life into each moment's charm,
Then it is to share will all the world over,
Full with life,
But hidden with song,
You must let your eyes hear now to feel the wonder.
Music stirs the inspiration in me
Many people ask me where my ideas come from as an artist. I love this question but I never quite know how to answer. Where creativity comes from is really a mystery.
I say that because I find it so difficult to put into words.
Creative ideas are just there... all the time. My mind is always swirling with ideas.
Maybe that's why I have so much trouble sleeping!
But there is one thing that has a definite effect on me as an artistic person: Music.
Music is one of those things that has a clear and physical influence on how my mind is working and how an artistic image flows into existence.
The type of artwork that I create has many steps. I call myself a Fantasy Art Photographer because I feel that best describes the artwork I am doing now. A huge part of my creative process takes place on the computer and the inspiring, musical talents of many people are with me during that time. When I am working on my computer "canvas" I listen to music. I can actually feel it physically, like a vibration. It helps me to focus my brain in the direction I want my imagery to take.
But as I said, my artwork has many steps and working on the computer is only one part. When I talk about my process, most people are surprised at how much more I do than just sit at the computer. I travel every chance I get near and far around our beautiful planet. During these times I photograph everything that peaks my interest. I hike and climb, get wet and dirty. I walk till my feet ache; drive to remote places... get lost...a lot!
I meet wonderful people from everywhere; see sights that are breathtaking.
And all the while, music fills my head and mingles with the sounds of the world around me. It influences my every step helping me to see what my camera needs to capture.

On occasion, I have been lucky enough to be able to combine my artwork and the musicians who inspire me. And as I meander on this artistic path, it is always a gift when I discover new music to help feed my soul.

So, where did this love of music originate? Well, I think I will give that credit to my older sister, Cindy. She is an incredibly talented singer. My whole life is filled with the memories of her melodious voice. From childhood to present day, she has introduced me to music ranging from the glories of classical to the darkness of operatic metal.
Her clear voice is a comfort I will never tire of hearing.
