LADYBIRD and LORDBIRD BEETLES RULE!
Did you hear about, or see the recent fantastic photo of a tree inundated with lady beetles? It seems this is not unusual. Ladybeetles hibernate.
Did you hear about, or see the recent fantastic photo of a tree inundated with lady beetles? It seems this is not unusual. Ladybeetles hibernate. If snow is on the way, they migrate before the white blanket comes! They fly to the highest hill or mountain to dig in. Once the balmy air returns, ladybirds return for a communal sunbath, perhaps on a tree, and then go their ways.
Hopefully they head for needy grape and olive orchards or to your garden! Ladybirds are a natural ally to our Earth. Many take in 50-100 aphids, mealy bugs, mites, and insects to feed upon each day. Some garden nurseries will even sell you kits to ship in to help your overwrought gardens. They're an addition of beauty and luck as well!
A great legend is that peasants prayed their insect-besieged crops be saved by Mother Mary, and she sent her Ladybird beetles to eat them up; thus their name: Our Lady's Beetle. Ladybird beetles are also called Flower Ladies, and in Switzerland they, not the stork, are reputed to deliver human babies.
Most live 4-6 weeks, but some species survive up to 2-3 years. Each species has a different number of black spots on its back. Those with the fewest spots are found among the greatest crop harvests.
The Ladybird Beetle bids us "Let Go and Let Goddess!" She reminds us we are all spirit-connected, for the beetle carries the mystickal golden strand of life, which threads into the very center of All That Is. The beetles' design and colors denote strong morals and values and though some beetles have the same number of spots on their backs, the beetles are still unique and different as any snowflake!
What a World the Great Spirit has created!
