Enchanted Childe

Sarah's favourite saying - Life's a garden, dig it!

“As far as living in the magic, Be, there is great beauty in all of life's small things, which are really what's most important. Embrace each precious moment, as it's all magic. Watching a ladybug with my girls, jumping in leaf piles, building a snowman... things like that. The silly stuff, that's what I love, and that's magic to me.”

Once upon a time, there lived a small toad named Sarah, in a wooded swamp in northeastern Pennsylvania.

At age sixteen, she was kissed by a handsome prince, who promised to turn her into a human girl, so long as she agreed to cook, sing, and paint for him. This she did, and they lived quite happily.

She attributes her artistic talents to being born with unusually short thumbs, and to this day still has slimy feet and smells funny.

Everything has changed...

Tue, Mar 31, 2009

Everything has changed since I have last written. The world has changed. I have changed. I awoke this morning with a new sense of purpose, a new hope, unlike that which I have experienced in a decade or more.

The Hollow Tree

Tue, Mar 31, 2009

My sisters and I would play in the leaves beneath the Hollow Tree, or search for four-leaf clovers in her clover patch. I would often sit beneath her and draw, and we would sleigh ride down the little hill beside her each winter.

Earth Day

Earth Day

Spring is in full bloom. For me, everything seems to have a story, and spring perhaps more than any. There is something magical about this time of year, and as I get older, the spring somehow becomes more important. With each bloom, a new story begins. As I frolic among the cherry blossoms with my little ones, I am reminded of my own childhood memories, and the enchanted springs of past.

A day at the shore

A day at the shore

I have always loved to walk the beach after a storm. I never go to the beach in the summer, when everyone else does. I love to go during the off-seasons, when there is no one in sight but a few fishermen, waves crashing and seagulls about, the cold sand between my toes and nothing but endless possibilities.

Going Home

Going Home

Yesterday, I returned home, to the place of which I spent my childhood, and showed my own children the home where I grew up.

Zen and the Art of Instantgratiphotography

There's a saying that goes something like, "what's old is new again." There is, indeed, truth in this statement, though with each incarnation, each trend becomes sleeker, chic-er, and much cooler than it was the first time around, doesn't it?
